Inside The Studio: May/June Updates - The Calm Before The Storm

What...what happened? How is it mid June?!?! I started writing this back in May but never got a chance to finish it so that's fun. Thank you "day" job for blowing up and making it difficult to do anything. My "day" job has already picked up rapidly and it's making it feel like time is passing so much faster. It just keeps reminding me that it'll feel like I blink and it'll be September and I'll be attending so many events (for me) that I won't know what to do with myself.

I am working on applying to a few more events so I have more than one massive show in Omaha as my first show I'll be attending. I'm waiting on confirmation for one in Sutherland and am working on applying to a couple others but they are just taking me a little bit to get filled out. Fingers crossed I'll get into them.

I'm trying to spend as much time as I can preparing for the shows I've applied to while also working on a couple personal projects. I'm thinking with those couple of projects I'll probably make a couple blog posts about because they are some outfit pieces I'm making for some concerts I'm attending later this year. I want to be able to share and look back at the process but also, it's not something I would sell because I'm just winging it and attempting to push my sewing knowledge to its limits. The materials are slowly arriving and before I know it I'll have everything in and will be swimming in fabric and rhinestones.

I've also finally gotten all the materials I'll need for my hair sticks that I plan on making. I'm excited to start working on them. I plan on having some that are just nice color combinations with the beads I have, others I plan on making into intention wands/spells with the crystal gemstones beads meaning being carefully picked for things like abundance, love, or calming energy to the person wearing it. I'm just finishing working on writing it all out so I can include tags with info about each one. I'm excited for them especially since it's something I've been thinking about for months now.

The Copia/Frater Imperator drawing is slowly making progress. I've been doing all of his crystals and it took what felt like an eternity to finish them. I am so glad that I can finally start working on the his roses and candles. I can get through them fairly quickly since I have been drawing and painting them for so long.

I am also in the process of sampling canvas tote bags that I can add my art to. If all goes to plan I'll be every to get everything picked out and ordered by the end of this month but we will see how that goes. I would really love to have them as options at events. I would definitely give people more options for my art to be available and would be really nice to use as part of raffles.

I am also planning on getting some more journal designs ordered soon. I'm thinking I should be able to do 3-4 designs so I'll have options available especially with me going to bigger events. I've been thinking about getting more for awhile now and I think now is finally time.

I will also be making a handful of greeting cards as well. I've had the paper for close to a year now and I'm finally working on making some to have a different shows. I will have a spring wildlife set for sure and possibly the Halloween Boo Bees as well but we'll see how much I get done with them especially since I want those to be available as a sticker sheet as well. I'be got such a cute idea for the finished vision.

I'm so excited to be working on all of these projects for these events. It's a little bit stressful but it is my own fault. I was the one that signed up for bigger events without much thought on how I was going to manage that but hey, it is what it is. I have said for years that I have done my best under stress. It's going to be interesting to see how much I can manage to get done. It's going to be a wild next couple of months that's for sure.
