Inside The Studio: The Pre-Holiday Blog

What a year! This year has gone by so insanely quickly and I can hardly believe that it’s already mid November as I am working on this blog. It’s been a whirlwind adventure that’s for sure.

First, I would just like to let everyone know that I have decided that Friday December 12th will be the cut off date for holiday orders. I want to make sure that I have plenty of time to get anything I may need to pack put together and sent out in time for Christmas and with my full time job that I need to work around, it’s the best date to give people a chance but to also make sure I can fulfill the order in time.

I will be keeping my shop open afterwards but anything ordered after December 12th may not be able to go out in time to make it to you before Christmas.

Now that Holiday Splendor has passed, I am done with events for this season meaning that I will have some time to work on several of the projects that I have started but not been able to complete. My biggest goal was to finish photographing a few of the items that I have made this year (I’m looking at you black tote bags) since I managed to miss a few things along the way.

I did spend my weekend working on getting the pictures taken. So I’ll then be getting them all listed up in my shop. I thought I had everything up but I was looking over things the other day and noticed I didn’t have anything for the black totes, no listings, no product photos..nothing! So I will be working on fixing that and I will be updating some of the product photos for art prints as well now that I finally have them made up in the sizes I plan on keeping available moving forward.

I will also be working on finishing a pet portrait that I have been putting off finishing and I have a little mouse that has been waiting on me as well to work on it.

When I am not working on art I will also be slowly going through the art I have up on Inprnt and updating the files since I have made a couple modifications to some of the files. I will also be adding my Spring Wildlife Collection. It will start out with them having their blank white backgrounds and I’ll add a version with the leaf border once I get that finished. I’ve been dealing with just enough that I end up working on the border for about 10-15 minutes at a time so the progress is slow going currently.

Inprnt is a print on demand service that has more print options available both in size and the type of prints. They are able to do things like your regular paper prints as well as specialty materials like canvas and metal. They also have framed options if that is more your speed. I have this as an option for people who want to use it. Inprnt has a massive art selection from so many other artists. I always forget that I probably should let people know that it is an option I have available for prints especially since they regularly are having different sales up on their site that can be used site wide.

I do have a discount code for anyone who would like to get a print off of Inprnt. It's 15% off All orders through December 17th. No minimum amount is required to get this discount.

I am slowly working on putting together a shop update blog with each item. It’ll also kind of be a year in review as well because of how hectic this year has been. The items in the blog will be the things that I have done this year so it is a two birds one stone kind of situation. I don’t know if I will have a studio blog next month due to that though. I probably won’t especially with Thanksgiving in the middle of everything but I am still unsure. We’ll see how far I get with things.

The behind the scenes stuff like product photos and making listings never seems like it should take as long as it does and yet I swear it takes forever. I spent hours getting photos taken over the weekend of the bags and prints and even had to retake a bunch because the color balance was wonky on the totes. My camera likes to make two of the designs appear more blue then they are in real life and it’s so confusing. It was just easier to start over on them. Sometimes you just can’t win when you are trying to use natural lighting and just have to fall back on your trusty circle lights to get the job done. My goal is to try and have everything up by the end of the week and if not the end of the week definitely by Thanksgiving for sure.

I want to thank everyone once again for making this a fantastic year both online and at my craft shows. Your support has been what has made this year worth wild and made all the challenges worth it. I can't wait to see what next year holds for us.
